History of the School
History of Consolacion National High School
by Fritzie C. Soronio
The municipality of Consolacion had its first secondary school in 1974. This was instituted by the late municipal mayor, Honorable Mayor Hilarion H. Pepito known as the founder of the school. It was named Consolacion Municipal High School (CMHS) and functioned as an adjunct school of Consolacion Central Elementary School. Hence, the principal of Consolacion Central Elementary School, Mrs. Paz S. Heyrosa was also the first principal of Consolacion Municipal High School.
At its inception in 1974, there were two classes for the First Year and two classes for Second Year level. As there were a total of four classes, so there were also four pioneering teachers. They were Mrs. Adelina P. Semblante, Mr. Siegfriedo San Mateo, Mrs. Violeta Dabalos and Mrs. Leah I. Manatad. Classes were first held at the old Puericulture building of the municipality which was across the San Narciso Parish Church. In 1976, the first graduation exercises was held.
Consolacion Municipal High School (CMHS) became an extension of Naga National High School in 1975. Accordingly, the principal of Naga, also became the principal of CMHS. In 1975, the principal of Naga National High School was Mr. Lorenzo Tanza. In the school’s history, he became the second school head of CMHS. After him, Mrs. Teresita D. Lauron became the principal of Naga.
Each year saw the rising number of students and overcrowding of classrooms in the 1980s. With better classrooms constructed, more students are flocking to enroll at CMHS. Despite the additional classrooms and additional teachers hired, the school still could not accommodate every student who wanted to enroll in this institution. Hence, the creation of the Evening Class in 1981. Both the Day Class and Evening Class were under the same school administrator, Mrs. Teresita D. Lauron.
Upon retirement of Mrs. Lauron, Mrs. Manatad became its fourth school administrator. In 1995, Mrs. Adelina P. Semblante was assigned as the Principal of the Evening Class. She was the school administrator for four years from 1995-2000 while Mrs. Manatad continued as principal of the Day Class. Upon retirement of Mrs. Manatad, Mrs. Fedelina C. Entero from the municipality of Carmen became the principal of CNHS for five years. Upon her transfer to Carmen National High School, Mrs. Adelina P. Semblante became its principal for both the Day Class and Evening Class.
In 2005, Mrs. Elisa M. Escutin became the school head of the Evening Class. In her stead was Mr. Raul A. Jumao-as, who was instituted as principal of the Evening Class in 2010. With his leadership, he spearheaded the corrective enhancement of the lighting facilities of the school which was a problem at that time. He also promoted the advancement of the general academic achievement of the students.
In 2012, the school is on its third year of implementation towards a full Tech-Voc Curriculum. Moreover, its Special Science Curriculum is also in its third year of implementation. Supervising all this and managing all its projects is the principal, Mrs. Adelina P. Semblante who was the school head of the Day Class until August 2015. Upon her retirement, Mr. Raul A. Jumao-as became the principal of the school and the lead principal of the Secondary Schools of Consolacion.
